The highlight of the English Easter festive program, Egg-citement Egg-plorers<\/em>, was the \u2018Easter Letter Eggs Hunt\u2019. English teachers had put different letter eggs around the campus, and students were searching for them to form as many English words as possible. When successfully reading them out, students could draw toy capsules as rewards. During the activity, students displayed great teamwork and communicated with other students to exchange letter eggs. It is believed that they have strengthened their spelling, reading-aloud and communication skills.<\/h4>\n

As part of the English Easter festive program, Egg-citement Egg-plorers<\/em>, students took part in an Easter Chocolate Eggs English Making Class, in which they learnt about the symbol of the Easter eggs and read an English instruction manual on making chocolate eggs. Students displayed their unlimited creativity to decorate the eggs. It is a good opportunity for them to apply English and have great fun with their peers and teachers.<\/h4>\n

English Department collaborated with PE teachers to organize a tongue twister competition with the theme of sports. By practising tongue twisters, not only can students work on fluency, but also develop their sense of language through rhyming and rhythms. A leaderboard was set for students to challenge each other and even themselves; some students were eager to push their limits \u2013 from 6 seconds at the first attempt to 4 seconds at the second. Teachers loved to see students\u2019 endeavours very much.<\/h4>\n

English teachers organized a Chinese New Year activity named \u2018Snake through Ups and Downs\u2019, hoping students to be like snakes, flexibly passing through different ups and downs in their daily lives. In the activity, not only did students revise the English words of the Chinese zodiac, but also learnt about onomatopoeia \u2013 how animal sounds can be represented by words. Some creative students even imitated the sounds, a good way to strengthen their memories and learn English.<\/h4>\n

\u2018The English Wonderland\u2019 is a new year-long English co-curricular activity program at LHK, which aims to promote a richer English learning atmosphere at school and get students to interact with their adorable schoolmates and energetic English teachers more often. After teaching students how to read aloud the Wonderland\u2019s slogan in an English morning assembly, students were eager to join the \u2018Sing the Slogan\u2019 activity at lunchtime. To make them easily remember the slogan, there are rhyming word pairs and a rhythm. Also, our native-English speaking teacher Ms Tanya was so creative that she added some actions to make it fun.<\/h4>\n

Gen-Z Communication Studio Speaking Workshop<\/h4>\n

The English Department invites the HKFYG Leadership Institute to organize an English workshop with a theme of \u2018Diverse Cultures Around the Globe\u2019, which is promoted by Standing Committee on Language Education and Research (SCOLAR) of the Education Bureau and supported by the Language Fund. In the workshop, students interact with Cultural Ambassadors from different countries, getting to know and learn about their unique cultures and completing various English tasks. They are very responsive and take part in discussions actively.<\/h4>\n
